A break from writing
It's good to have a break and get out into the fresh air.

I have started writing a book. Its a challenge because it will be longer than anything I've written previously. With this in mind I followed the advice of successful writers and authors and set up a regular writing routine. This means that I write for a minimum of two hours each morning - but tend to get engrossed and write for longer most days. I enjoy the routine and the change of rhythm but the time I spend sitting at a computer has increased considerably, so I'm trying to walk every day to give my mind and body a break and a change of scenery.
I nearly always see something new, interesting or beautiful - or meet someone new, interesting or beautiful! Today it was raining - again - and I met a lady with a beautiful, but very nervous dog. She explained he was an ex-hunting dog. She thought he had been mistreated which made him scared of cars and people. From a distance he appeared pleased to see me; head high and tail wagging enthusiastically as he strained at his leash to try and reach me, but as soon as he came within six feet his tail went down between his legs. He was so scared he couldn't look me in the eye and tried to drag his owner away. Apparently he is getting better as at one time he would sink to the floor and crawl on his belly when he saw a stranger. I don't have a picture of the dog, but I did take a photograph of this garden full of brightly coloured spring flowers.
